At the end of the monsoon Assam hit back again with flash flood in last three days’ heavy rain pour into the region. The situation worsen the most today when the Brahmaputra river water enters the capital city today affecting the outskirts area of the city like Panikheiti, Chandrapur with hitting more than 2000 households under its wave.

Panikeiti and Chandrapur village which comes under the divided Tribal belt of the state in the East Guwahati constituency last night fallen into surplus water of river Brahmaputra after the river has damaged one forth of the Asia’s largest river island Majuli and some parts of Nagaon district. “We suddenly saw a huge wave coming towards our village and with no time washed away our lands and houses though somehow most of us flew to death. Now with the daylight we are seeking for help from the authority to come for relief”, said Hariharan Pegu, a local affected.

At least 2000 villagers are being affected by the flash flood near city, said the official who informed that a crew has been sent already to tackle the status this morning. “The continuous rainfall in last three days left us with this situation, every year this part of the city is always affected. “Though they made a concrete road last year spending more than 23 lakhs but it all washed away with it and now we are going to our works and offices though country boats as most of the village is submerged”, alleged Anamitra Gogoi, school teacher of a local medium of Chandrpur.

Asking about the flood affect inside the city, State Water Resource Ministry informed that the departments has been given a high alert on this and relief works are been activated. “We can’t help the nature’s fury but only we will try to solve the human lives and their property as soon as possible and already rescue teams are been sent to the areas”, claimed Akon Bora, MLA of the constituency.

School children are also hiring country boats to reach their schools whereas residents seem busy in rescuing their goods and property. The Panikheiti, Chandrapur areas are the agricultural zones of the city. The meteorological department has directed the ministry to stay on high alert as there are more chances of rain the region in next few days. Already monsoon floods have left nearly 80,000 people stranded and dependent on emergency aid for food and water in India’s remote northeast, an official said
