Guwahati 14th August 2008

Just ahead of the 62nd Independence Day celebration in the state, the music lovers and artist fraternity composed a new track to guide against the anti violence movement in a different way. Today, the noted musicians, artists, painters, sculpturists and writers taken out a musical rally with children to mark a new ideology against the Violent Toys, Violent Video Games and other rough items made for the children’s play which allegedly guide the children psychology towards Violence.
With the participation of the various genre people the rally was to set a different attitude cultivating the child’s mind in a beautiful way without the violent toys. “We just want to develope a crime free society and it needs to build by the future generation. But the recent globalisation and the electronic boom is giving our children toys and games with violence as an ingredient for thrill. But we feel that its somehow influencing the future boys and girls to grow a violent attitude also. That’s’ why today the rally is to set a new trend against those violent toys and to build a children force who can identify their future in harmony but not in violence”, said Kishor Giri, noted Music composer and the initiator of the march.
“Its indeed a new way of tackling problems and hope it will work suitably. A child grows with its toys and learn from them. And the latest toys with violence can made a worst effect on the children. our children should be given a better atmosphere to grow to peace and to lead the future in a proper direction”, stated psychiatrist G. Das who appreciate the movement and asked the society to make this a success and to take initiative from their own houses.
Children from schools march ahead the musical ride with the chorus of a song composed by Kishor Giri titled “We don’t need Gun but need song” to justify the march with distinguished Citizen, Musicians, Artists, Sculptures, Literature’s and Educationists of the state capital to create awareness amongst the people and to fight for a ban against Toy Weapons and Violent Video Games. “Hereby we request the UN to hear us and to make it a global movement and give the children of the world a better tomorrow. Assam as well as the world needs to take over this issue of banning the toy weapons and video games seriously for peace”, said Kalpa Basumatary, a six standerd and a participant.

I like the concept of this movement. I hope it helps change the attitude of children and grown ups and leads them towards non-violence through music. A great tribute to Indian independence on its 61st anniversary (or 62nd Independence day). Thanks for bringing this to us.
